Image Resolution

Image resolution is the detail and quality of an image taken with a digital camera. An image is a compilation of pixels (or dots). The higher the pixels, the better the quality of an image. I have a Samsung Galaxy S II X Smartphone with a 1.97GB memory capacity. There are currently 210 captures on my phone, all of which were taken at the highest resolution of  3264x2448. The weight of a single jpg captured at the highest resolution is 8M. The lowest resolution that my camera can capture is 640x480, where the weight of a single jpg is 0.3M. With 210 captures and 798MB used on my 2GB memory card, I have an estimated 1.2GB left of memory. My camera cannot tell me how many captures remain, however, I can assume to capture around 324 more jpg at the highest resolution of 3264x2448 before my memory card is full. Using a lower resolution will allow me to take more jpg. Lastly, a high resolution image is used for printing purposes, where the higher the resolution, the better the detail. Contrary to this, a low resolution image is used when dealing with a computer screen, e-mail, blog or website. Here, it is more convenient to use a lower resolution in order to upload images faster.
